Program Goals

The goal of this program is to offer young students interested in art an introduction to the process used in the creation of public murals. Instructors seek to offer students a positive outlet for their creative energy while developing specific art skills, community awareness and group social skills.

Students learn to brainstorm in a group to help develop concepts for murals. Students develop their ideas in sketches and drawings including homework assignments, mural visits, slide presentations and specific in-class exercises.

Students then paint with brush on large sheets of vinyl at the beach in Venice. The final group mural project will be presented to the Venice community at a recognition presentation at the Venice Centennial Showcase Festival on July 9th. Students may receive a certificate of recognition upon completion of the course.

Mural Workshop Registration

As part of the registration process we ask that each child wishing to enroll in the Urban Art Mural Workshop have their parent or guardian fill out two forms.

Parent/Guardian Permission and Questionnaire Form

This form gives the student permission to enroll in the workshop and includes a few short questions about the student's art background and inspiration for taking the workshop. This information helps us to determine which students are best suited for the course this season in the event that more students apply for the class than we have spaces for.

Contact Info/Medical/Art Release Form

This form gives us important information on how to contact a parent or guardian in case of emergency and gives permission to administer medical care in case of emergency. This form also gives us the right to use photographs of your child and their artwork for promotional and documentation purposes for future classes. All information is strictly confidential and will not be shared with any other parties. If you have any questions please contact Venice 2000 at (310)823-6100 or venice2000@sbcglobal.net.
